Units with a polished surface are commonly referred to as ground face
concrete masonry units. These units have the unique architectural appearance
of exposed aggregate. The grinding process creates a polished natural stone or
terrazzo-like appearance. This is ideal for high visibility exterior or interior applications,
particularly entryways and partition walls. Ground face units are manufactured in a
variety of colors, far exceeding what is available in natural stone.
Ground face concrete masonry units in this section are manufactured with
additives and pigments, producing an integrally colored, decorative,
polished unit. Colors may be selected from Betco Supreme's standard sample
kits. In order to maintain the highest level of quality and color
consistency, all ground face units are manufactured to order.
Ground face units can also be treated with a factory applied acrylic sealer
to further protect the surface or "deepen" the color.
Ground face units are often scored to achieve a scale other than the
conventional 8-inch by 16-inch appearance. For information on scores, see
